PVC Wall Cladding Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain :- Installing PVC Wall Cladding
PVC Wall Cladding is a term now used widely to describe any material which is partly insulated, made up of plastic polymers (PVC) and used in wall and ceiling construction. The use of these materials in construction has reduced over time as they have proved to be an expensive and problematic product to manufacture. The most popular material to use for both walls and ceilings, PVC is resistant to the effects of weathering, fire and mold and mildew and can be painted easily to maintain its cleanliness. It is easy to install and can cost a lot less than other products for this purpose.
Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic
Also called fiberglass or GRP, is now widely used in modern wall cladding, particularly in the USA, parts of Asia and the Indian subcontinent. It is cheap and quick to build, sturdy, lightweight and highly resistant to moisture. A major benefit of using fiberglass is that it is water-resistant, making it suitable for use in bathrooms and showers. It is also durable and very long-lasting. Unfortunately, however, as many bathroom and shower frames are now fitted with acrylic linings, it becomes harder to clean.
Polyvinyl Chloride :
Polyvinyl Chloride or PVC is similar to the material used in fiberglass but is slightly denser. It is more rigid and hence requires more effort to install and tear down. The reason being that PVC Wall Cladding is not flexible enough to be torn or bent. Some suppliers offer flexible PVC which may be used for walls with flexure problems.
Installing PVC Wall Cladding is similar to installing ceramic tiles or stone. The difference lies in the way the panels are laid on the walls. The surface is treated with an epoxy glue which bonds the PVC Panels to the underlying concrete slabs or floor joists. Then the concrete is poured to form the bottom surface. In case of walls without a subfloor, or where the ceiling height is less than 3 feet, grout should be installed to fix the panels to the floor.
Skirting system :
When installing PVC Wall Cladding the floor joist must be placed directly under all ceiling beams. A skirting system should be installed around the perimeter of the ceiling, and the panels should be laid on this skirting system. The PVC panels are then placed onto the concrete foundation, and finally the ceiling is tacked on top of the whole arrangement.
Entire process is quick and easy:
In some cases, where the PVC Wall Cladding panels are installed too tightly, or too shallow, water may be able to seep through the tile joints, or the grout. To overcome such problems, the PVC wall cladding panels are cut to size, or pre-cut, depending upon the need. An alternate way of solving the problem of too much or too little PVC is to have slabs or tiles cut to the correct size and then placed one over the other. However, if too many tiles or slabs are required, it is advisable to use ready-made tiles or slabs obtained from the market. The PVC cement is spread on the surface and allowed to dry fully before grouting the tiles or slabs. The entire process is quick and easy, and if the concrete surface has not been sealed beforehand, one can apply water based sealant directly to the surface.
